Mixed Media Monoprinting

Create one of a kind prints or varied editions by combining monotype with safe plate- making methods. Susan Rostow will introduce her latest innovations using Akua Carborundum gel coated plates in conjunction with the spontaneity of monotype. Demos will include coating plastic monotype plates with carborundum gel medium and drawing into wet and dry carborundum surfaces for mono-printing. Participants will explore a variety of inking techniques beginning with a simple single plate to more complex multiple registered plates.
Students will learn about the properties of individual pigments, characteristics of Akua inks, modifiers and additive, reductive and viscosity techniques. All materials used in the workshop are fume free and clean up easily with soap and water. Beginners and advanced printmakers are welcome.
