Monoprinting with Akua Carborundum Plates; Hands-On Intaglio & Relief Workshop with Susan Rostow

February 17, 2018 @ 9:00 am - February 18, 2018 @ 4:00 pm

Rostow

Create one of a kind prints or varied editions by combining monotype with safe plate-making methods. Susan Rostow will introduce her latest innovations using carborundum coated plates in conjunction with monotype. Carborundum printmaking is a collagraph process which offers a textured surface to the plate. Since the carborundum is built up on the plate, the paper slightly embosses when going through the press creating a rich velvety print. Demos will include coating the plates for even coverage, drawing into wet and dry carborundum, creating “mezzotint like” and “litho like” impressions from candles, china markers, litho crayons and pencils. Intaglio and relief methods for printing Akua Intaglio inks on an etching press will be covered. All materials used in the workshop are fume-free and clean up easily with soap and water.  Contact Susan Rostow at susanrostow@gmail.com or visit www.SusanRostow.com for more details and to register.
