Monoprinting for Printmakers, Painters and Photographers with Susan Rostow

This workshop is designed for any artist who wants to learn how to create unique prints without a large investment in equipment. We will be using the hand held Pin Press which offers the mobility that allows you to create prints at home, in the studio, classroom, outdoors, or wherever you want to go.

A wide variety of the printmaking processes will be covered. Monotype using additive, reductive, and viscosity methods for a painterly or graphic approach. The drypoint process will appeal to those who love to draw and for the collage type artist, stencils and found materials will be introduced. In addition, combining photo images, drawings or illustrations from an ink jet printer always adds excitement.

Participants will explore a variety of inking, wiping and rolling techniques beginning with a simple single plate to more complex multiple registered plates. Demos and discussions will also include properties of individual pigments and understanding the characteristics of Akua inks and modifiers. All materials used in the workshop are fume free and clean up easily with soap and water.
