Screen Printing Resist Workshop with Speedball Demo Artist, Stephen Wiggins

In this two-session class, you will use the “block out” method to create an image on your screen to print a set of 10, 5 x 7 cards. You will learn how to prepare the screen, register two colors and trouble-shoot to get great results.

During the first session, tape the screens to prepare for image making and print one color. At the second session learn about two-color registration, how to tape the screen and print your image onto a 5 x 7 card, we will create 5 cards per student, or more if time allows. Students will also learn how to clean up and reclaim the screens. A syllabus with resources for supplies and equipment will be provided.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Stephen Wiggins holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Art Studio from the University of Kentucky and an Associate’s Degree in Graphic Design from Kentucky Community and Technical College System. He has worked in the commercial t-shirt screen printing industry for the better part of 5 years and has taught screen printing through the Bluegrass Printmakers’ Cooperative and Lexington Parks and Recreation.He has shown his prints in several one man and group shows and was the president of the Bluegrass Printmakers’ Cooperative for three years.
