about the artist
Jennifer Whilden of Carved in Mud Studios has been in search of color, whimsy, and surprise in clay since the very beginning of her career. She graduated from Towson University with a BS in Fine Art in 1995. It was only after she began an educational pursuit in Art Therapy that she concepted the idea of a tool that could offer greater accessiblity to individuals struggling with sensory disorders. After months of hard work, prototyping and testing, Jennifer and the team at Speedball were able to develop a system that not only delivered against the original idea, but ultimately served as a way to alleviate bodily stress when centering for those suffering from arthritis and carpal tunnel, in addition to being an incredible teaching tool for artists just starting on their pottery journey.
