Will any nib fit any holder?

While our standard straight holders accommodate most nibs, Crow and Hawk Quill nibs like the #102, #104 and #107 require a specific holder. Oblique holders are also only recommended for pointed pen nibs like the #101, #99, and #22B. Our 2-in-1 Holder combines a straight and Oblique holder and is suitable for use with nearly any Broad Edge or Pointed Pen Nibs except the #102, #107 and #104.

What's the best way to clean inks off nibs after use?

Each nib should be wipe with a rag to remove excess ink after use and then cleaned with a mild soap or pen cleaner and water. To avoid rusting, nibs should be dried immediately after cleaning.

Does Speedball manufacture their pen nibs?

The process of manufacturing varies by nib type, with all requiring as few as 4 and as many as a dozen steps to manufacture. The machinery used is vintage, with some machines dating back to the late 1930s. All nibs are made one, by one, with many steps being completed by a single, specially-trained technician.
