What is the shelf life of Speedball Screen Printing Inks?
Speedball Screen Printing Inks have a shelf life of 2 years post manufacture, but when stored and cared for properly they can last much longer.
Can I add water to modify the inks?
No, we do not recommend modifying the ink with water.
Can I mix inks to make my own colors?
Yes, however Speedball FLEX Inks are not pure process colors. This guarantees the highly opaque performance but will require artists to experiment when developing their own custom palettes.
What is the dry time for Flex Inks?
For best results, all projects should be allowed to dry overnight prior to heat setting. Rushing the drying process may lead to issues such as undercured ink, poor adhesion, or ink cracking after washing.
How do I heat set my Flex Ink project?
Time and temperature for the heat set can depend on the fabric type, the recommended temperature and time to properly heat set your project are as follows:
100% Cotton: 300°F (149°C) for 1 minute
Triblend: 300°F (149°C) for 1 minute
Polyester blend: 300°F (149°C) for 40 seconds
Always use a piece of parchment paper to cover your printed project when heat setting whether doing so with a heat press or iron. This will prevent the ink from sticking to the heating element and to ensure even heat distribution. Use of alternative paper (e.g., copy paper, etc.,) is NOT recommended.
What types of fabric can I use Flex Ink on?
For best results, we recommend use on the following: Cotton, Polyester, Blends, Linen, Rayon and synthetic Fibers.
