Sachin Shah is a professional calligrapher and a lettering artist based out of India. He started learning calligraphy on his own since 1992 with just a Speedball Textbook and indigenous tools. With over 25 years of experience, Sachin has partnered with diverse global design agencies to create commissioned art work.

Ironically, Sachin is a computer science engineer by education but had a deep fascination and passion for letters ever since he was a child. He likes to experiment with traditional hands and often comes up with his own versions of styles and scripts.

Well conversant with most forms and scripts of Calligraphy, he has taught and mentored numerous students across the world.

SACHIN’S INTRODUCTION TO THE SPEEDBALL TEXTBOOK

“22nd edition in the year 1992. My first ever introduction to the world of calligraphy was with a Speedball Textbook”

SACHIN’S FAVORITE EDITION OF THE SPEEDBALL TEXTBOOK

“The 22nd edition is my favorite edition since that’s the first ever book I read.”

WHAT APPEALED TO SACHIN ABOUT SERVING AS CO-EDITOR TO THE 25th EDITION

“Having been a Calligraphy practitioner for over 2 decades, I am deeply interested in teaching, mentoring and creating awareness of this beautiful and lost artform. This role as a co-editor provides me an opportunity to share my knowledge and contribute to the society and at the same time be associated with the fantastic history and rich culture of The Speedball Textbook; where it all started for me.”
