Is there an open time for calligraphy inks? While working on a project can you keep the ink bottle open or will it dry out?
Depending on your project, leaving your bottle open for extended periods may lead to the ink's working properties declining. Many artists will use a secondary dish or an ink well to keep a small amount of ink that they are currently using during their project as a way to minimize the bottle remaining open.
What is the difference between Super Black India Ink and the India Ink line?
The greatest differentiator between the two India Inks is that Super Black India Ink is not vegan, whereas all colors in the more recently launched line are. In addition, Super Black India Ink offers the richest black, whereas Black Velvet India Ink offers a super matte finish in an off-black. Both formulas of India Ink offer permanence and are lightfast and acid-free.
What paper should you use with our ink?
Our inks work with so many papers. We'd recommend trying Arnhem, many artists tell us the weight and paper finish works great for calligraphy and illustration. But paper is a very personal choice, so see what works best in pairing with your ink and nib of choice!
